On this coming Planetary Health Day, I’m thrilled to share how Friends and Allies Homecare in Ottawa weaves compassionate caregiving into the fabric of global and environmental wellness.

Our work brings care straight to people’s homes, cutting down on travel emissions, making smarter use of medical resources, and fostering tighter-knit communities. Beyond Ottawa, we’re driven to expand trauma-informed training for healthcare workers in underserved areas—like Eastern DRC and the marginalized San communities in Botswana—ensuring care that’s respectful, culturally grounded, and inclusive.

What we do proves that small, local homecare efforts can ripple outward, touching lives and safeguarding our planet. Caring for people with kindness and caring for the Earth aren’t separate missions—they’re one and the same.
